Hi guys! My name’s Rhiannon, and I’ve recently been taken on as the new Textile Designer/Buyer here at Bill Beaumont Textiles, so thought it was about time I introduced myself! I’m from South Wales, and graduated from The University of Manchester with a degree in Fashion & Textiles Retailing with Industry Experience in July. I’ve previously worked in the fashion industry, and loved it, but my passion has always been for interior textiles- and so, when I saw this role advertised online, I just couldn’t resist!

My first month has been great. Everyone here is so nice and welcoming- it’s really lovely to feel like you’re coming to work as part of a family and not just another cog in the machine.
They’ve really got me stuck in from the off! I’ve already had the chance to be a part of so many different and exciting aspects of the business. I attended the AIS Linens and Soft Furnishings Show in Birmingham, and Focus at Chelsea Harbour in London. It was so interesting to attend shows where I was playing different roles (the seller and the buyer)- getting to know how we as a company like to interact with our customers, and then seeing what patterns and colours are out in the marketplace at the moment.

I’ve had the chance to attend a fabric testing seminar, and pay a visit to the lovely ladies who help with our Made For You service. I found it very beneficial to see the different stages our fabrics have to go through, and the high standards they must adhere to before they can become a finished product for our end customers. Then last week, I went out and about with Jake, one of our Account Managers, visiting different customers. Once again, seeing hands on how we like to build strong relationships with every one of our customers. It was great for me as well to get different customers’ insights into what fabrics/patterns/colours are doing well and why- helping with inspiration for future collections.

As well as all that, I’ve been getting stuck in to things in the office. From pulling together 12 month sales reports for all of our fabrics and wall-coverings, assisting in the selection of colours for our new Spring’17 collections, and meeting with suppliers- gathering inspiration and samples for our Autumn collections for next year. All very exciting!

I am also starting to build a Bill Beaumont Textiles Pinterest profile- not only will it be a place for me to gather my ideas, but also for you guys to get some trend inspiration, see the stories behind some of our collections, and see ways you can use fabrics to create different looks for your homes. So, keep your eyes peeled!

As you can hopefully tell, I’m really excited about this role and what my time at Bill Beaumont Textiles has yet to show me. I am absolutely loving the Welcome and Treasures collections from Autumn’16, especially Bouchra and Little Leaf, but cannot wait to see your reactions to what I have to offer.
